Anthemion Plaque
Plaster cast ornamental plaque of an Anthemion, the Ancient architectural motif derived from the Greek word for 'flower,' and most generally associated with the architectural form of the Honeysuckle plant.
This example showing particularly sharp fine details, offset by the light degree of patina, reflecting the age of the object from which it is cast - early C19 French in origin.
Dimensions (cm): width 13.5 x height 15.5 x depth 1.5.
To the rear, hand-initialled and stamped with the Alexander Griffin maker's mark and fitted with a brass 'D ring' for wall hanging from a single screw / nail / hook.
