Demeter Plaque ii
Plaster cast of a bas relief plaque showing Demeter, the Greek goddess of harvest, agriculture and fertility. Associated with images of plenty, in this scene she reclines while passing grapes to a winged cherub, attended by a recumbent lion.
Superb fine details.
Dimensions (cm): Height 19.5, Width 28.5, Depth 2 (of plaque excluding relief details).
To the rear, hand-initialled and stamped with the Alexander Griffin maker's mark, and fitted with a brass 'D ring' for wall-hanging from a single screw / nail / hook.
