Jacobean Brick

Plaster cast of a highly decorative Jacobean brick, with a pair of lions rampant, framed by mouldings in diamond formation, with intricate running foliate ornamentation to the surface. Further symmetrical, delicate geometric patterns filling the surround. The year of production - 1610 - is shown divided between the two halves.

Cast from the original terracotta artefact, which formed part of a Jacobean fire surround in a historic house in Ireland.

Dimensions (cm): Height 9.5, Width 15, Depth 4.

To the rear, hand-initialled and stamped with the Alexander Griffin maker's mark, and fitted with a brass 'D ring' for wall-hanging from a single screw / nail / hook.
