Ornamental Frieze

Plaster cast of a fine and large scale ornamental frieze, which originally formed the central part of a larger Eighteenth century architectural over-door.

The principal elements in bas relief comprising an urn with flowers, flanked by symmetrical arabesques, with a single run of delicate beading both above and below, framing the entire ensemble, and with a geometrically sharp, clean rectangular border forming the outer surround.

Dimensions (cm): 93 length x 29.5 height x 5 depth.

To the rear, hand-initialled and stamped with the Alexander Griffin maker's mark and fitted with brass-wrapped steel-core wire for wall hanging from a single screw / nail / hook.
