Historically, a symbol associated with Venus, Goddess of love, who rose from the sea on a scallop shell, as in Botticelli’s ‘The Birth of Venus.’

To the rear, hand-initialled and stamped with the Alexander Griffin maker's mark and fitted with a brass 'D ring' for wall hanging from a single screw / nail / hook.
